Bespoke Joinery Photography for a High-End Residential Project

This Hampstead home was photographed as a collaborative commission for M&Y Interiors, with bespoke joinery by Dexes Bespoke and furniture by QLS.

M&Y Interiors was the primary client, but several specialist companies had contributed significant work to the finished interior. Rather than each business organising a separate photoshoot, the photography was shared across the project — creating a consistent set of professional images that each company could use to market its own contribution.

For Dexes, the shoot documented bespoke fitted wardrobes and a statement drinks bar, from wider views showing how the joinery worked within the completed interior to closer photographs highlighting materials, hardware, lighting and craftsmanship.

The photographs have since become part of Dexes’ ongoing marketing, including prominent use across its website, project and product pages and social media.

Bespoke joinery throughout the home

Dexes’ work extended far beyond a single fitted wardrobe. Across the Hampstead property, the company created fitted bedroom storage and dressing areas, a dark bespoke home office, a statement drinks bar and joinery within the private gym.

That variety was important to document.

Rather than photographing every installation in exactly the same way, the approach changed with the character of each space: brighter, architectural imagery for the dressing rooms; deeper shadows and integrated lighting in the office and bar; and wider views where the relationship between the bespoke work and the surrounding interior mattered.

The resulting library shows both the range of Dexes’ work and the level of detail behind it.

Showing both the installation and the craftsmanship

For bespoke joinery, one wide photograph rarely tells enough of the story.

The shoot therefore combined complete room views with closer photographs of handles, textured cabinet fronts, integrated lighting, internal storage and specialist finishes.

The wider images show how the joinery transforms the room. The details provide evidence of the craftsmanship and material quality that a prospective client cannot assess from a quotation or drawing alone.

One project, content for three businesses

The project was commissioned primarily by M&Y Interiors, with Dexes Bespoke and QLS also contributing substantial elements to the finished home.

Instead of arranging three independent shoots of the same property, the photography was planned collaboratively. Each participating business could therefore use imagery relevant to its own contribution while sharing the cost of documenting the completed project.

M&Y gained a complete interior portfolio. Dexes gained extensive coverage of its bespoke joinery. QLS received professionally photographed furniture within the finished scheme.

The result was one coherent visual library rather than separate sets of imagery created under different conditions.

Photography that led to further content

The value of the shoot continued after the still photographs were delivered.

After seeing the photography and content I was producing, Dexes approached me directly about creating additional campaign material from the video footage captured during the project.

Andras Marton of Dexes wrote:

“I am really impressed by the contents you are creating.”

The original short video clips had been captured as flexible marketing assets for the businesses involved in the shoot. They were then developed into targeted advertising concepts for Dexes, including edits focused specifically on wardrobes and dressing spaces.

After receiving the first versions, Andras described the videos as “amazing” and said the content had “spot on emphasised the wardrobes [and] dressers.”

That second commission is useful evidence of why I increasingly encourage clients to plan photography and motion together rather than thinking about a shoot as a one-off set of photographs.

Creating an asset library rather than a single campaign

Photography from this project is now used extensively across Dexes’ website, portfolio pages and social media.

The same completed installation has therefore generated material for website hero imagery, project pages, social posts, advertising, Stories and future promotional use.

That is the commercial advantage of documenting a project properly while access is available.

The project may be finished once. The content created from it can continue working for the business for years.
